Mr. Tan has 24 years’ of consulting experience in risk management, internal controls, and internal auditing, in addition to providing professional services and managing regulatory communications in Japan and Hong Kong. He is mainly engaged in comprehensive risk management, internal controls, compliance and surveillance audits, and related audit and consulting services with respect to SEHK PN21 for state-owned and private enterprises.
He is a Distinguished Professor at the China Business Executives Academy Dalian of Central Government SASAC and an advisory council member of the China Risk Oriented Solvency System (C-ROSS) for the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC). He is also a senior researcher of the insurance sector for the China Financial Policy Report at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and the project leader of Research on Modern Models of Corporate Governance of Shanghai’s SOEs regarding the city’s 14th Five-Year Plan to reform state-owned assets and enterprises.
He served as the Client Lead Partner of Baowu Group and iFlytek, having provided Pre-IPO advisory services for many related industries including iFLYHealth.
Kurt has been invited to give lectures to many governmental organizations and large state-owned groups, including Securities Association of China (SAC), Beijing National Accounting Institute (BNAI), the Insurance Association of China (IAC), China’s State Taxation Administration (STA), State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSDC) Shanghai Branch, Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE), Guangdong Institute of Internal Audit, Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS), etc. He is also a guest professor or external mentor at Shanghai University, Nanjing University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing Audit University, Zhejiang University, etc. He is one of the core expert team members on behalf of Deloitte to support the implementation of the SSE's Internal Control Guidelines for Listed Companies and help the STA draft the Tax Risk Management Guidelines for Large Enterprises. He is also the main author of the insurance sector for the China Financial Policy Report 2017-2022 published by the CASS, and co-author of Turn the External Regulatory Pressure into Internal Developing Driver - Internal Control Practices in China, Japan and the US and Internal Control Essence of Insurance Companies.
