MWC Shanghai 2019 welcomed more than 75,000 innovators and influencers with a new theme, a new name, and a new look ushering in the era of Intelligent Connectivity at the most anticipated industry event of the year!
This year’s theme, ‘Intelligent Connectivity’ describes the powerful combination of flexible, high-speed 5G networks, IoT, AI and big data; connecting everyone and everything to a better future.
MWC Shanghai brought Intelligent Connectivity to life as this year’s attendees experienced the world’s largest event with live 5G coverage, allowing attendees to experience fully immersive 5G services across all seven exhibition halls.
From the Digital Leaders Programme; which brought together leaders from different sectors, to the AI Accelerate Programme uniting policymakers, industry leaders, AI specialists, academia and startups, this year’s event provided new forums for the industry’s influencers to discuss forward thinking topics and share their vision for the years ahead.
The latest tech and cutting-edge innovation was on display in GSMA Innovation City where attendees explored how Intelligent Connectivity will positively impact the lives of citizens and businesses around the world. Visitors had the opportunity to experience a number of hands-on demonstrations across a range of sectors including entertainment, transportation, environment and robotics from an impressive gathering of global partners. Leading brands including BICS, China Mobile Migu, G7 Networks, Huawei, myFC, Shanghai Ratta Smart Technology and Singtel participated in the City, alongside key GSMA programmes including Future Networks, Identity and the Internet of Things.
Continuing its commitment to increase inclusion in the industry, the Women4Tech programme provided a platform for attendees focused on reducing the gender gap and championing diversity. The Women4Tech Summit gathered senior leaders to address trending topics and to help create true equality across the industry, and around the world.
The conference programme at MWC19 Shanghai highlighted the intersection of ‘hyper-connectivity’, enabled by 5G and IoT, and ‘intelligence’ delivered by AI and big data. Over 4000 attendees, with more than 55 per cent of delegates holding senior-level positions, including more than 350 CEOs explored eight key topics addressing the greatest industry impact and influences. Keynote sessions featured leaders from established players and industry upstarts with speakers representing organisations including: Adriel, China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Huawei, JPMorgan Chase, Qualcomm, Reliance Jio, Telenor Pakistan, YOFC and ZTE.
4YFN, one of the most influential startup event platforms in the world, welcomed its attendees to Shanghai, bringing a glimpse of things to come with a focus on the startups that will shape the connected future. More than 100 investors attended the event including companies such as Cathay Innovation, China Mobile Fund and Shenzhen Valley Ventures. Connected China, a dedicated IoT demo space, highlighted some of the innovative advancements in IoT in the region.
