Description

The travel industry globally is booming, and nowhere more so than in APAC. The region’s airlines have seen international flights grow by over 8% during 2018, while Asian destinations’ tourism earnings have steadily increased from 17% of the world total in 2000 to 29% in 2017. This is equivalent to $390 billion in tourism receipts, and tourist numbers are growing at 6% per year. This growth has been supported by innovation in the way people book and experience their travel online and especially on mobile – from simpler flight and hotel booking, destination wayfinding, translation and much more. On the Leaders Stage we show you how the most exciting companies are using connectivity, big data, AI and IoT to revolutionise the sector… and give you some fresh inspiration for your next holiday! Formats: We will give expert speakers time to impress you with their knowledge and what they are doing. Join us for fast-paced talks, demonstrations, even test out the services! And at the end of each section, join us to vote on who is shaking up the travel industry the most. 12:30 – 13:30 Planning your trip With the spread of digital services, people have the opportunity to serve as their own travel agents and find accommodation, transport and activities in ways that were never available before. It is allowing people to express their individuality through their bookings in ways previously not possible, whether for leisure or business travel. As a result, new styles of accommodation have sprung up, catering for different tastes, budgets and backgrounds. This session brings our audience the world – or, at least, the smartest ways to get to it. 13:30 – 14:30 The travel experience We have all had journeys that have disappointed – because of weather, or traffic, not understanding the locals, or only discovering the best things to do on the last day… However, all this is changing, as smarter services help you navigate, understand and engage with your surroundings in new ways. These outstanding ideas will help you travel like a tourist, but thrive like a local. 14:30 – 15:30 Corporate travel Like it or not, we are all here because of business. While this has its benefits, companies can have complex and painful processes for travel booking, visa management, making sure you’re protected… and eventually expenses management. Does it have to be that bad? Not if these ingenious companies have anything to do with it!
