Description

2018 saw the launch of the first ever Women4Tech Summit in Shanghai and we’re delighted to announce the return of this highly impactful event in 2019. We’ve all heard the shocking statistics - a recent study by IBM found only 18% of senior leadership positions in global organisations are held by women – a gap that will take until 2073 to close. Despite this, eliminating the gender gap is still not a priority for 79% of these businesses, with many stating that they do not see the business value, although there is ample evidence correlating gender equity with improved financial success and competitive advantage. It’s not all doom and gloom - there are many large companies that are truly committed to achieving diversity; throughout their businesses; through fairer hiring and pay practices and by fostering diverse leadership teams - they are the organisations fostering diverse cultures and workforces that achieve better results. Hear from senior leaders from the companies exemplifying equality and take practical actions back to your own organisation. The 2019 Women4Tech Summit will showcase the companies and best practices that are making gender diversity a key business imperative. Join us again in 2019 as we discuss how and why businesses in the region, and globally, must make gender diversity a top priority. Be a part of the movement and make a change. #GSMAW4T 13:30 – 14:45 Empowering & Encouraging 13:30 - 13:40 Opening Keynote 13:40 - 13:45 AMO Presentation: Asia Mobile Industry Leadership Award 13:45 – 14:15 Changemakers: How do we make change, rather than waiting for it? The numbers of women on corporate boards globally is increasing, albeit slowly. However, the pace of change is much slower in APAC, with Fortune Global 200 companies having only 7.4% female representation on their boards. One study suggests that a minimum of three female board members are needed to realise the benefits widely attributed to women, such as a more collaborative leadership style, and ultimately increase business performance. How do we as an industry ensure that we are doing everything to encourage as many women as possible into board positions and cultivating future female leadership? Tracking differences in pay, performance and progression is key, as is keeping an open dialogue and fostering a culture where everyone feels equally able to contribute and perform at their best, regardless of their gender. 14:15 - 14:35 Diversity & Ethics in the age of AI • AI ethics, development & unconscious bias • Attracting diverse talent to the field of AI development: awareness of biases within AI and working to overcome these 14:35 – 14:45 Securing the Talent Pipeline: Inspiring the Next Generation Despite advances in recent years, reports still suggest that women are less likely to choose a career in science and technology than men. Role models can play a significant part in inspiring girls and young women and engaging them with STEM subjects, but in some regions, we also need to address gaps in digital literacy and access. It is our responsibility to break down barriers, encourage girls into STEM from a young age and keep them engaged through their teenage years and beyond. 14:45 – 16:00 Transforming & Innovating New and exclusive for 2019, this session will feature an interactive board simulation, giving participants a chance to experience a tactical board discussion first-hand, debate key topics and hone their strategic questioning, leadership and decision-making skills. 14:45 – 15:05 Fireside Chat A scene setting discussion with experienced corporate chairs giving practical insights into what it takes to be a director, before breaking out in to the board simulation. 15:05 – 16:00 Board Simulation Participants will be given a scenario and take part in a facilitated discussion, simulating a real-life board situation. 16:00 – 16:30 Networking Break 16:30 – 18:00 Speed Coaching & Networking 18:00 – 19:00 Drinks Reception
