Yifan Yu, Ph.D., previously served as the Chief Expert of Intelligent Connected Vehicles at Tencent, where he led research on 5G vehicle-road cooperation technologies and related standardization efforts. He has long been engaged in mobile communications and network technology R&D at Intel, France Telecom, and NTT DoCoMo. Currently, he is the Chief Scientist at AILINK and Vice Chairman of the “5G + Industrial Internet” Working Group under the Alliance of Industrial Internet (AII), responsible for driving innovation and standardization in industrial 5G edge computing. In 2024, he received the First Prize of the Guangdong Institute of Communications Science and Technology Progress Award. In 2025, he was invited as the first Chinese enterprise representative to deliver a keynote speech at the “5G and Industrial Wireless” forum of Hannover Messe.
As a core contributor, he participated in drafting two national standards in the industrial 5G field and led the development of a series of industry standards on industrial 5G standalone private networks under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). In addition, he has led or contributed to more than 30 other industry and association standards across related domains. Deeply devoted to 5G edge intelligence, he led the authorship of the first Chinese monograph on 5G mobile edge computing, published over 20 SCI/EI-indexed papers, filed more than 100 patent applications with over 40 granted (including more than 10 patents in the U.S., Europe, and Japan), and took part in one National Key R&D Program project and two MIIT Industrial Internet Innovation Development Engineering projects.
