UNICEF, Lead, Digital Inclusion
Speaker Bio
Christopher Fabian is a technologist and the Lead of Digital Inclusion at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), where he co-leads Giga, a joint UNICEF/ITU initiative to connect every school on earth to the internet. Known for deploying intelligent infrastructure at a global scale, Chris co-founded UNICEF’s Innovation Unit and pioneered the UN’s first venture fund, the first public-sector cryptocurrency fund, and the first drone corridor in Africa.
Recognized as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People and WIRED’s 25 People Changing the World, he has advised two UN Secretaries-General on emerging technology and collaborated directly with Heads of State and Fortune 100 CEOs on AI and open-source infrastructure policy. Chris brings a critical perspective to global connectivity: building AI-powered, open-source networks for the 2.9 billion people currently offline is not a CSR initiative, but the central challenge and largest untapped opportunity in the next generation of global network investment.
