Speaker Bio

Kenny Koo is the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH or the Company). He has spearheaded pioneering mobile projects for the Company with world-leading tech giants including Apple, Facebook, WhatsApp, Microsoft and Google since the boom of the mobile internet.


Mr Koo joined the Hutchison Whampoa Group in 2006 and led the corporate market and international services, as well as the business and development aspects of the mobile business until 2015. He then joined Hutchison Asia Telecom Group (HAT) as Chief Commercial Officer of Vietnamobile and General Manager - International Services, overseeing and managing HAT’s mobile operations in high-growth markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia. Mr Koo re-joined HTHKH in 2017 and advanced to his current role in 2018.


Moving into the 5.5G era, Mr Koo actively promotes Hong Kong’s 5.5G and smart city development. The Company collaborates with different service providers to leverage new technologies and develop solutions in artificial intelligence, block chain, cloud computing, big data, edge computing and IoT.  Mr Koo has also led the Company into Web 3.0, expanding new businesses and establishing an ecosystem for a new digital Internet economy.  


Mr Koo is a committee member of the School of Business Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Baptist University, the Business Discipline Advisory Board of the Vocational Training Council, the College International Advisory Board of the College of Business of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the Advisory Board for Information Systems Programs of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He is also joining the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Engineering of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Mr Koo is dedicated to nurturing telecoms talent, having launched HTHKH Management Trainee and Graduate Trainee Programmes to groom future leaders. Mr Koo also serves as a mentor in the mentorship programmes of CityU and HKUST.
