Session Description

Build the Agentic Evaluations that will measure telecom AI.

A three-hour hands-on workshop and hackathon for telecom developers, AI engineers and operator domain experts. Co-hosted by GSMA and China Telecom on the margins of MWC Shanghai 2026.

Telecom needs its own AI evaluations. Help us build them.

Generic AI benchmarks measure who is smartest, fastest and cheapest. None of them measure whether a model understands networks, protocols or operations. Telecom does not have its own yardstick yet.

Spend an afternoon at MWC Shanghai 2026 with the people building one. You will work in small mixed teams to design two agentic evaluations using the Open-Telco Telecom Wiki, get live mentoring from GSMA, China Telecom and Open-Telco.ai contributors, and compete for the Agentic Challenge prize. The best tasks become part of the external benchmark used to evaluate frontier telecom models.

The best evals come from pairing operator and network engineering depth with AI and machine learning skill. We are looking for teams of four to five that mix both worlds: telecom developers, AI engineers, network engineers, OSS and BSS specialists, students, researchers and operator domain experts.

Don’t worry of you don’t have a team… register as an individual and we will help you find one on the day.

We will also be celebrating the successful deployment of agents in network.  The  Telco Troubleshooting Agentic ChallengeChallenge Awards Ceremony at MWC Shanghai showcases the pioneers reshaping network intelligence and fault finding. Attendees will hear directly from category winners and organizers on the technical breakthroughs in the competition.

Why this is worth your afternoon?

  • Shape the benchmark. Your tasks feed the external benchmark that will evaluate frontier telecom models.
  • Work with the right people. Mentored by GSMA, China Telecom and Open-Telco.ai, alongside operator domain experts.
  • Win the prize. A £3,000 cash pool across the top three teams, plus five MWC Shanghai 2027 passes for the winning team.
  • Join the founding contributor network. The room becomes the first cohort of the Open-Telco AI contributor community.
